International conference BAISBE-2026 Inaugurated at MIET, Meerut

Lucknow Focus News Desk: The 3-days International Conference on “Bio-AI Innovations for Sustainable Biotechnology and Environment (BAISBE-2026)” was inaugurated today at Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Meerut, bringing together more than 350 researchers, academicians, scientists, industry experts and students to discuss the rapidly emerging convergence of Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology. The conference was inaugurated online by Prof (Dr) JP Pandey, Vice Chancellor, AKTU, Lucknow. The conference is organised by department of biotechnology, Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology while Green Petals Trust serves as Academic Partner.

The inaugural session began with the welcome address by Dr Avinash Singh, Organising Convener, followed by felicitation of dignitaries including Chairman Dr Vishnu Sharan Agrawal, Dr Anoop Singh, Scientist E, Ministry of Science and Technology; Dr Rajesh Pandey, Sr Principal Scientist, and Mr SP Verma, Director (Training and Innovation), Green Petals Trust. It was followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp, Saraswati Vandana and release of the Souvenir and Book of Abstracts.

Addressing the conference, Prof JP Pandey said, “AI has entered in all walks of life silently. It is the right time to train our youths and researchers about its ethical use in research. The role of AI in sustainable biotechnology is increasing day by day. MIET has chosen the the very good theme for this 3- days international conference. I would like to congratulate the organisers for this scientific endeavour.”

Prof (Dr) Subhash C Chauhan, Director, Cancer Immunology and Microbiology Division, Texas University Rio Grande Valley, addressed the participants online and shared his thoughts on latest trends in cancer and biotechnology research. He motivated the researchers to keep themselves abreast with the latest happenings in the field. Dr Gourav Mishra, Organising Secretary, presented an overview of the conference.

Addressing the audience, Mr Satya Prakash Verma, Green Petals Trust, Academic Partner, said, “The convergence of Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Environmental Science, and Sustainable Development is opening unprecedented possibilities for improving human life while protecting our planet. The real meaning of innovation is not simply creating something new, but creating the ability to respond intelligently when the unexpected happens.Scientific discoveries transform the world only when they are shared, documented, and translated into solutions that improve lives. May this conference become a platform where innovative ideas evolve into collaborative research, sustainable technologies, impactful policies, and meaningful partnerships.”

The scientific sessions on the first day focused on Bio-AI and Computational Biotechnology, and Sustainable Biotechnology & Environment. Invited lectures covered subjects including single-cell multiomics, sustainable bioenergy and waste management, sustainable wastewater treatment and resource recovery, plant-based innovations, biodiversity and benefit-sharing, and AI-driven industrial bioprocessing.

The conference has been organised in hybrid mode for more than 350 registered participants representing more than 25 universities and 15 engineering colleges from India and abroad. The oral and poster presentations by registered participants by researchers and students is an opportunity to present their work before experts.

The organisers said the conference would continue with specialised scientific sessions on healthcare, industrial bioprocessing, nanobiotechnology, plant and animal biotechnology, translational research, bioeconomy and biopharma innovations.

The Souvenir and Book of Abstracts containing 151 research contributions has been published by Green Petals Trust and edited by Mr Satya Prakash Verma while Coeditors were Dr Chandrababu Rejeeth, Dr Gaurav Mishra and Dr Ashima Kathuria. The programme was conducted by Dr Nitika Vats, Dr Rini Sehrawat and Dr Jahanvi.
