Yogi govt issues updated fertilizer availability report

UP has 6.04 lakh MT urea, 3.93 lakh MT DAP, & 3.02 lakh MT NPK fertilizer in stock

Lucknow Focus News Desk: The Uttar Pradesh government has reaffirmed that there is no shortage of fertilizers in the state, assuring farmers of smooth supply during the Kharif season. Adequate stocks are available across all divisions, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directing officials to maintain strict monitoring so that farmers do not face any inconvenience.

According to the Agriculture Department’s latest report, UP currently has 6.04 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 3.93 lakh metric tonnes of DAP, and 3.02 lakh metric tonnes of NPK in stock ensuring sufficient availability across the state. The government has also adopted a zero-tolerance policy against black marketing, hoarding, and overpricing of fertilizers.

Appealing to farmers not to indulge in unnecessary stocking, CM Yogi urged them to buy fertilizers only as needed, assuring that continuous monitoring of availability and distribution will protect their interests.

The Yogi government continues to push farmer-centric initiatives, ensuring both affordability and growth in the agriculture sector. While the actual price of urea stands at Rs 2,174 per bag, farmers are receiving it at a heavily subsidized rate of just Rs 266.50.

With the timely supply of fertilizers, seeds, and irrigation facilities, the state’s food grain production has increased to 737 lakh metric tonnes. Significantly, the Gross State Value Added (GSVA) from agriculture, which was only Rs 2 lakh crore during the Samajwadi Party government, has now risen to Rs 7 lakh crore under the present administration.

During Kharif 2024-25, a total of 32.07 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer has already been sold, which is 4.5 lakh metric tonnes more than last year. For the upcoming Rabi 2025-26 season, the government has set a cultivation target of 138.78 lakh hectares, an increase of 4 lakh hectares over the previous year. To support farmers, 10 lakh quintals of subsidized seeds and about 12.80 lakh mini kits will be distributed, while sugarcane farmers will receive free seeds for pulses and oilseeds.

Additionally, vigilance has been intensified in border districts to prevent fertilizer and urea smuggling. Strict action is being taken against those involved in black marketing, hoarding, or smuggling, ensuring that fertilizers reach farmers smoothly and without obstruction.
